Nalchity River extended flow of the arial khan and the kirtankhola river. The Arial Khan is renamed as the Bhasani Char river at Bhasani Char in the Barisal Sadar upazila and again renamed as the Kirtankhola at 5 km north of Barisal town. The same river enters the Nalchity upazila of Jhalokati district 6 km downstream of Barisal town and receives the name Nalchity. The Nalchity creates a great meander near Jhalokati town and flows straight south as the bishkhali. Then it falls into the bay of bengal at the mouth of the Baleshwar-Haringhata 13 km downstream of Patharghata. [Masud Hasan Chowdhury] See map in
